The ‘ATLAS’ range of lifting-bails (also known as cast-steel thread protectors, or lifting caps) are manufactured from high-quality castings meeting the ASTM specification No. A27 Grade 60-30 (tensile strength 60000 psi & yield strength 30000 psi) suitable for handling all ranges and weights of drill pipe, drill-collars, drill bits and other accessories during manufacturing, transport and field use. Threads and shoulder areas are machined to API-standard, and castings are sand-blasted and normalised with phosphatised threads areas to prevent rust and galling. Each lifting-bail has its’ own unique serial number and is supplied with its’ own documentation (Load Test & Material Certificates) for complete traceability.

Sizes currently offered in the ‘ATLAS’ range are 3 ½” IF, 4” IF, 4 ½” IF, 6 5/8” Reg & 7 5/8” Reg. Santo PSR can also manufacture to specific requirements and is constantly extending the ‘ATLAS’ range of lifting-bails. Blank (non-threaded) lifting-bails are available for specialist requirements.
